The Land we are buying to build our own Safe House68 viewsThis is a lovely piece of land that we are buying on which we plan to build our own safe house and classroom. There will be plenty of room to extend the project.

Alex & Eric58 viewsAlex is 6yrs old and his brother Eric is about 8yrs. Alex has a very badly infected leg wound. There is grave concern that it could kill him. They were brought to us by other children and are now being looked after. Alex is being taken to hospital to see if he can be helped.

Moffat - the day before we managed to get him off the street32 viewsMoffat is about 9yrs old. We saw him on the streets with the older boys and tried to pursued him to go to the safe house. On the streets he was very vulnerable and was open to abuse, especially sexual abuse. He was coming with us until he saw the bins of food being wheeled to the tip, where he was sheltering and he decided he would eat there first.(He didn't uderstand that we would feed him and the other kids were his friends so it was a wrench for him to leave)

Hungry kids will eat anything they can get!29 viewsThe bins have just been thrown out of a hotel. The smell is unreal, but this is the only food some of the kids get. The thought of eating like this may make you feel sick, but when you are there witnessing this the smell has the same effect. But seeing this spurs us on to take action to help these kids.

Feet of a 9yr old eaten by "Jigas" (Fleas)34 viewsWith no shoes to wear the children are likely to suffer from an attack by Jigas. These are like fleas that bury under the skin and eat it. It is a very painful thing to experience. This is what happened to Eric 9yrs and Alex 6yrs. We need to make sure that all the children in our care have shoes to wear. This will stop a lot of illness and infections.

The Well13 viewsThe well was dug by one man -by hand. It was 63ft deep. Then while we were there the builders decided that it had to be a little deeoer. So the man had to go back down and while standing in the water dug out another two feet. Nov 11, 2008

The house as we left it.29 viewsIt took 16 days of hard work to get to this stage. Although it is not finished it is habitable for the lads. They are staying upstairs at the moment and once the walls have been screeded and it has dried out they will be moved into their new home downstairs. It is a fantastic feat to get it this far from nothing in 4 weeks. Everyone in the area was staggered at how quickly it had "grown".Nov 11, 2008

The kitchen21 viewsThis is the outside kitchen shelter that was built. The lads are used to cooking outside, in fact a lot of Kenyans cook outside and it is important that the boys are comfortable with their surroundings.Nov 11, 2008

Bunk_Beds.jpg
Bunk Beds29 viewsThere were 9 sets of triple bunks made in just three days. All but 4 boys have their own bed. The 4 youngest who are due to go to foster homes very shortly, are topping and tailing temporarily. We had sheets and pillow cases donated and there were just enough. The mattresses, pillows and blankets were donated so every lad was thrilled at their new beds and could not wait to get a photo taken.Nov 11, 2008
